Media games holds under heavy rain

Sixteen of the 20 teams that registered for the Five-A-Side event of the year 2012 NUJ Games in Lagos, on Monday defied the heavy downpour to play their scheduled matches in the Games.
 
Ayo Ilori, the LOC chairman of the Games said the four media houses that failed to show up for their matches had been simply walked over.

 “The four media houses that did not show up for their matches were simply walked over and three points, three goals were awarded to their opponents”.

“The media houses are Sportsville, Rhythm, Daar Communications and Nigeria Television Authority networks,” Ilori said.

In matches played on Monday, Daily Independence defeated Sports day 1-0 and Lagos information defeated The Nation Sports also 1-0.

In other matches, Federal Information drew goalless with Lagos Television (LTV), while Voice of Nigeria drew 1-1 with Complete Sports.

Radio Lagos drew 1-1 with Super Sports, while Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (F.R.C.N) also drew 1-1 with Daily Independent.

The five-A-Side matches continue on Tuesday at the National Institute for Sports, at the National Stadium, Lagos.    

The Games also included indoor games of Ayo, scrabble, draught and table tennis.
